Submit A Research Proposal
IIMPS supports research on policy, regulatory and business issues that have a bearing on social security for the poor. IIMPS invites proposals for research papers which would further the thinking in this area. Brief and focussed research proposals of around 1000 words may be emailed to research@iimp.in
The proposal should present a well posed issue, and a research strategy through which the issue will be addressed. The proposal should clearly indicate the way it can (a) contribute to an understanding of some unanswered/debated issues in the literature, and/or (b) help stakeholders in designing appropriate strategies, policies and regulations. It should be structured to include (a) objective of the research, (b) literature survey on the proposed topic, (c) methodology (d) description of empirical model, wherever applicable, (e) sources of data, and (f) list of references.
Each research proposal will be screened by IIMPS to ensure that it is relevant and well structured. If found to be in order, it will be forwarded to an anonymous referee to evaluate whether (a) the proposal addresses a relevant issue on social security for the poor, and (b) it offers a clear technique through which a sound answer can be obtained. The report of the anonymous referee will be emailed to the researcher.
If a research proposal is accepted, the research would commence, and fifty percent of the research scholarship of Rs.30,000 (Indian Rupees thirty thousand only) would be disbursed to the researcher.
The researcher will be required to sign an undertaking letter containing the terms and conditions she/he is required to abide by. She/He should undertake to complete the research within six months from the date of signing the undertaking letter. On completion of the research, the researcher would be required to submit to IIMPS (a) the research paper in editable and PDF formats, (b) a 1,000 word non-technical summary of the work and (c) an undertaking that the work is original and previously unpublished. The paper would be sent to an anonymous referee who may ask for modifications necessitating resubmission. The resubmitted paper would also be sent to the referee. If the referee accepts the paper, the second and final tranche of the research scholarship would be disbursed.
Finally accepted papers would be disseminated on the IIMPS website, along with complete associated materials (i.e. proposal, referee reports, chronology of dates, etc). IIMPS shall be free to use or redistribute this work in any manner, while fully acknowledging the authorship. The researcher may publish the work elsewhere. If published, the full citation would be shown on the IIMPS website.
